I can’t believe we’re at the end of 2012 already—what a year it has been! So many ups and downs, and so many new things learned. Most importantly, I made so many new friends, some of whom have become some of my closest confidants. You know who you are, and if you’re reading this, thank you all for your support and for all that you’ve taught me!

This year, I made up my first champion (my first show dog!), Lyra (Ch. Riccaval Zeal Me A Kiss), and what a ride it has been! At her debut shows, Lyra won Best Puppy In Group (as well as a BOB, 2 Reserve BOBs, and 3CCs), which is still her best achievement to date. It was an amazing experience, as she was awarded this at one of our two biggest show weekends of the year—she beat imported puppies, and even some being exhibited by foreigners. In Malaysia (and I guess in many other countries as well), the Toy Group is by FAR the most competitive group, probably owing to the fact that small breeds are easier to keep.

Lyra has gone on to finish the year as the top Cavalier in the country, and in the top 10 of the toy group! We are STILL waiting on official results on the exact position—she was 7th in the preliminary results.

For 2013, I should be able to share some exciting news around the middle and at the end of the year. A few goals for 2013: to finish Lyra’s Grand Championship title (which we will hopefully accomplish in April since the rules here state that there must be a 1 year timeframe between the 1st and 20th CCs earned), and secondly, to HOPEFULLY make it to Bangkok in June for their huge show weekend which will include 4 FCI shows. If we are REALLY lucky, Lyra would be able to finish her International Champion and Thai Champion titles as well. But everything is still up in the air; nothing concrete yet as these are all just plans for now!

I guess we can safely say that I am hooked onto the show circuit now! You will be seeing me in the ring for a long, long time to come. I hope to keep on improving, learning more, and maybe travel to attend big shows like WDS, EDS and Crufts. We shall see. For now, wish us luck for 2013 and hopefully, it will bring even more great news than 2012!
