I spoke to several people (groomers, breeders, etc.) about conditioners to help with mats and static, and Coat Handler kept coming up. It so happened that I had to go to the petstore last week to stock up on dog treats, and in a tiny aisle in the corner, I saw COAT HANDLER!!! You don't know how amazing that is, because specialty shampoos are very hard to come by around here. So when I saw that they had the apparently amazing Coat Handler Conditioner, I quickly grabbed it! Here's what it looks like:
The best part? It only cost me RM39 ($12) for 15oz.... that's about the same price as Earthbath, and MUCH cheaper than shitty Chris Christensen (RM65/$21) and Isle of Dogs (RM78 for 250ml.. that's $25 for 8.5oz). Anyway, Coat Handler is good for regular conditioner use and diluted with water as a spray. I used it on Lyra a couple of times, and was amazed! First of all, it's pretty dilute--so I was kind of skeptical of its affectiveness, but after rinsing it off, her fur felt so soft and smooth.
Also diluted some into a spray bottle, because I brush her ears daily and need to spray conditioner on. So far, it seems to be working really well! So, got to say thanks to my friends who recommended this to me. Also, some long-time groomers who've been in the profession for decades--thanks for the tip!
I didn't buy the shampoo because the only one they had was the clarifying shampoo, which is only supposed to be used once a month. Since Lyra is always kept extremely clean and is bathed weekly anyway, I didn't think it was necessary. So, am still using Chris Christensen and Isle of Dogs shampoos on her for now... until those run out.
But seriously, if you haven't tried Coat Handler's Conditioner.. DO TRY IT!
