Can't believe our next shows are here again already! Just a couple more days to go. Been training Lyra the past week or so--I managed to teach her how to wag her tail on command. It will come in very handy especially if she decides to throw a fit and refuse to put up her tail like at the last shows. =D I feel like a genius! Let's hope she is in a good enough mood to actually FOLLOW the command. I try to make our training sessions as FUN as possible and I never train more than 15 minutes at a time because it seems like the longer the session is, the less interested the dogs get. She has also gotten a lot better at standing four square. Good progress, I think!
Anyway, hopefully Lyra will earn at least another CC at the shows so that she can finish her title. My first champion! This will be very exciting for us.. and an accomplishment, too. Don't think she will do any good above the breed level since she is COMPLETELY out of coat. Only hear ears and tail have fur on them right now. Her body is just.. yikes. Let's hope that she'll stop shedding pronto and start growing fur again!
Been thinking about what to do after Lyra earns her title... I would have to continue showing her since I have no other dog to show, so perhaps we'll just keep going to the shows to get more experience. (Mostly for me--I need more handling practice) If I am persistent enough, she might even be able to get her grand champion title next year. We'll need 20CCs for that, so a long way to go (she has 5 right now). It will be super exciting, though.
In other news... I am seriously thinking of getting Cadence off prednisone. I hate having to give it to him but whenever I stop for a couple of weeks, his allergies come back with full force and he ends up scratching his eyes until it bleeds. Poor fella. =( Too bad we can't figure out what exactly he's allergic to and Benadryl doesn't help AT ALL. The prednisone works wonders, but it makes him SO hungry and thirsty and drooly.
