Here are the next shows that Lyra and I will be attending--they are both on 27th May and will be held in Setia Eco Park. There'll also be other competitions such as junior handling and an obedience trial, as well as some fun activities such as treasure hunts and stuff! Check out DogsMalaysia for more information.
Cavaliers are in Group 7 (Toy), so the judges will be Mr. Douglas Bowe (Australia) and Mr. Kenneth Chuah (Malaysia).
Lyra will be 1 day shy of 13 months old (finally!! A show in which Lyra will be over one year old) then, so HOPEFULLY she'll earn her final CC to be crowned a Champion! She actually has 5CCs (only 3 are required to be a champion) already but because they were all earned before she turned one (that's today!! Woohoo), she needs another one at the next shows. *fingers crossed*
We're back from Penang! We only arrived home last night at almost 10pm, so I didn't get to update right away.. we were all exhausted, especially Lyra! It was quite a difficult show to do because it was a 3-3.5 hour drive away and Lyra is not a fan of being in strange places with lots of strangers.
We stayed at my cousin's place (my whole family except for my brother, Gene). Lyra managed to get herself another 2 CCs, so that makes it 5 now, and another 2 BOBs--she now has 3 of these. The judges who awarded her these CCs and BOBs were Gopi Krishnan (Malaysia) and Matgo Law (Hong Kong).
Lyra was in a seriously foul mood the entire time due to her lack of sleep! What a far cry from our last shows when she was a complete star, behaving like a champ and wagging her tail all the way. This time, she misbehaved, could not concentrate at ALL, refused to wag her tail while standing, and even refused to let the Hong Kong judge check her body. Sigh. At least the judge was very, very nice about it and told us we'd do better next time! Lol.
Oh well, silver lining is I guess at least Lyra still wagged her tail and walked nicely instead of freezing in the ring and refusing to walk? It was still super embarrassing though, having a dog who kept shying away from the judge while all he was trying to do was touch her body! She was all right with him looking at her teeth and everything.
Anyway, since Lyra is only turning one next week, she's STILL not eligible to be a champion yet. =( We've got to wait till the next shows when HOPEFULLY she will earn herself another CC so that she can be a champion! Fingers crossed, honestly. I hope her behaviour was just a one time thing and not because she's decided that she hates showing. Brr. Nervous.
On to pictures! There aren't many because my cousin/brother were taking the pics and they don't know how to use my DSLR so I gave them my point and shoot to use.. hence the abysmal quality. Yikes.
At this point, I had to resort to using her tennis ball to get her attention because she was in SUCH a foul mood that even treats failed to entice her.
This is where I update news on shows that any of my dogs are entered in, or shows at which I'm just a spectator.
